Introduction by Huw Carrod while the Choir sings
Gwahoddiad (recorded in 1994)

BRECON AND DISTRICT MALE CHOIR sings a welcome to you and hopes you find something of interest on its website.

More formally known as CÔR MEIBION ABERHONDDU, we are a small choir of some 40 voices drawn from the rolling hills and valleys of the Usk and Wye that lie to the north of the beautiful Brecon Beacons.

Established in 1937, we strive to maintain the traditions of male voice singing in Wales and take every opportunity to travel across Offa’s Dyke to spread the good news far and wide.

The choir has a very full programme, singing at local eisteddfodau and numerous religious, civic and charity events. We have had the great honour and pleasure of singing before a Rugby International at the Millennium Stadium and representing the town of Brecon on exchange visits to Brittany and the USA.

We have recently enjoyed our tenth visit to the Albert Hall to join, with fourteen other choirs, in the “London Welsh Festival of Welsh Choirs”. Previously known as “The 1000 Voices”, the name was changed under the Trade Descriptions Act when the number that could be accommodated fell to 890!

Look out for us giving a concert near you or even invite us to help you raise funds for your favourite charity or, if you are in Brecon on a Friday night, come and join in our rehearsal, or at least come and listen. You will be made very welcome.

Diolch yn Fawr.
